COURSE DETAILS

6STARTING TIME AND LOCATION  
Date: ​March 29, 2020 (Sunday)
Venue: Clear Water Bay 2nd Beach, New Territories
On-site check-in and bag drop will start at 7:30am.

​There will be 2 start times as follows:
9:00am Adventure Challenge Elite
9:15am Adventure Challenge Explorer

RACE FORMAT - ELITE 
Team adventure run with coasteering, orienteering, kayaking, river running and special team tasks. 
Each team must have 2 runners
- Elite route: ~23km 
- Participants must have experience of kayaking in open water 

RACE FORMAT - EXPLORER 
Team adventure run with coasteering, beach running, orienteering, and special team tasks. 
Each team must have 3 runners
- Explorer route: ~16km

RULES - ELITE & EXPLORER
For both the elite and explorer races are an orienteering team event, which means the route is not marked. All participants are only allowed to use a compass (not provided by the organiser) and the map provided by the organizer. Other equipments not provided by the organizer including street maps, walkie-talkies, GPS devices (using map and/or waypoints), smartphone apps and online maps are prohibited.

Participants have to self-navigate to all check points in order, according to the instructions marked on the map.

For both the elite and explorer categories, all participants must wear a helmet (e.g. bike helmet) along river and coasteering sections. 

All participants must visit all check points (CPs) in order and stay with their teammates throughout the race, without being separated by more than 10 meters.

Every runner will be provided with a race bib and a timing chip. Race numbers must be visible at all times.

Taking part in the Merrell Challenge involves accepting without reservation the event regulations and the ethic of the race. Breaking any of the rules may incur a time penalty or disqualification. Any such penalties are at the organizers’ discretion and are final.

​Littering is prohibited. Any participant found littering will disqualified.

REFRESHMENTS POSTS
There are two check points for elite route and one check point for explorer route with water, electrolytes and snacks.  

EQUIPMENT
Runners are required to be semi self-sufficient, and should carry a minimum of 500mL of water (weather will be hot and humid). NO outside assistance is authorized beyond the limits of the check point (any food/drinks found on the course will be collected by the staff and the participant responsible will be penalized). Pacer and support runners are strictly prohibited. 

RESCUE AND MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
First aid posts are positioned at check points . A medical control team is present during the entire duration of the event at the start/finish area.

If it appears that a runner is in difficulty or seriously injured, it is essential that other runners help anybody in danger and alerts the first aid point. Do not forget, that due to the difficulty of access of certain locations, one might have to wait for assistance for longer than anticipated. 
   
MAXIMUM AUTHORIZED TIME 
Elite route (23km) : 6 hours
Explorer route (16km) : 6 hours

DROP BAGS
You may drop a bag at the start area that you will collect at the finish area.

DROPPING OUT OF THE RACE
Except for injury, a runner must not retire anywhere else other than at the check point. Runner must therefore inform the person in charge of the post, who definitively invalidates the race bib.

INSURANCE
The organiser, Asia Sport Connection Ltd., has its own public liability insurance. This does not include personal accident of participants. We recommend that you have your own personal accident cover.

​The organizer reserves the right to make changes to the Event Rules, route and/or other arrangements as they deem appropriate.

規則 - 精英組及探險組
精英組及探險組的賽事為一個團隊定向越野活動,這意味著賽道是不設標記的。所有參加者只允許使用​指南針(主辦單位不會提供)及主辦單位所提供的地圖作賽。賽事禁止使用並非由主辦單位提供的街道地圖、對講機、GPS設備(使用地圖和/或航點)、智能手機應用程序和網上地圖。

參加者必須根據地圖上的標記指示順序前往所有檢查站。

所有精英組及探險組之參賽者必須於河段部分配戴頭盔(如:單車頭盔)。

所有參賽者都必須順序到達所有檢查站(CPs)及在整個比賽過程中與自己的隊友同行,並確保分開不超過10米距離。

大會將為每個跑手提供比賽號碼布以及計時晶片。跑手必須於整場賽事中將比賽號碼布配戴於顯眼處。

參賽者透過參加 Merrell Challenge 賽事即表示毫無保留地接受現時的比賽規則和道德守則。如違反任何規則可被罰增加完賽時間或取消資格。任何處罰將由主辦單位作最終決定。

​比賽禁止胡亂棄置垃圾,任何參賽者如被發現,將被取消參賽資格。
​

補充站 
大會將為精英組安排兩個檢查站及探險組安排一個檢查站。檢查站將提供水、電解質飲料和小食。

​設備
參賽者必須半自給自足,並應隨身攜帶至少500毫升的水(天氣將較為炎熱和潮濕)。禁止在檢查站以外接受外界的援助(如被發現在比賽內接受外界的援助,工作人員將會沒收該食物 / 飲料,及參賽者亦將被處罰)。嚴格禁止其他非參賽人士於比賽中陪同參賽者作賽。

救援和醫療救助
急救站設於各個檢查站,醫療控制小組則設於起點/終點並將會在整個比賽時間提供支援。
​
如果遇到跑手
處於危險困難或嚴重受傷,其他參賽者應協助該跑手並通知急救站。請不要忘記,由於某些地點位置較難到達,受傷者等待救援的時間將會比預期的長。

指定完賽時間
精英線(23公里):6小時
探險線(16公里):6小時

行李寄存
你可以在起點把行李寄存,然後在終點領取。

退出比賽
除了受傷,跑手不能在檢查站以外的任何地方退出比賽。因此,跑手必須要向檢查站負責人通知決定退出比賽,而負責人將會把跑手之號碼布即時註銷。

保險
​主辦單位 Asia Sport Connection Ltd. 已為賽事安排公眾責任保險。這份保險不包括參與者的個人意外保障,因此我們建議您為自己預備個人意外保險的保障。

主辦單位保留更改活動規則,路線和/或其他賽事安排的權利。
